CENTER FOR GREAT APES

Center for great apes is a sanctuary for retired orangutans and chimpanzees. These animals were either former pets, actors in the movies or circus, or using in animal testing. As  pets, chimps or orangutans are nice, small, and cute, but after around 5 years of age, the ape get to big and strong to handle so the owners will most likely put their 'pet' in a cage so that it remains "a part of the family". This can often mean being in a cage for the forty to fifty remaining years of the apes life. Center for great apes rescues chimps and orangutans in this situation. For example, Bubbles, was Michael Jackson's chimp who now lives at the centre. Clyde was a house pet too. In his home the family let Clyde eat at the kitchen table with them. Clyde even learned how to  make his own bed! But when he got to big the family locked him up in a cage which was in the garage.  He sat there with no sunlight or fresh air for thirty eight years! Thankfully, he was rescued by the sanctuary and lives the remaining five years of his life in the warmth of the sun. Not all stories end as happy as Clyde's though. In the movies male orangutans may have a piece of the testicles cut off so that they don't grow check pads or a throat pouch, which is uniquely something that male orangutans grow. This way a male orangutan can play a male or a female in movies. As an example, Popi and Radcliff were used in the movies and they got their testicles cut off. Popi was used to play a female nurse in a movie even though he was a male orangutan. In the circus, apes will be abused so that they learn to do all the petty circus tricks. For example Marco, the oldest chimp in the centre  used to work in the circus. What some chimps and orangutans have been through are terribly sad stories. HerE'S A big question: is seaworld a good place for marine life?

Well, SeaWorld was supposed to be AZA accredited on March 2, 2015, but the weren't. Why was that? Well we cannot be sure but E.D.U.C.A.T.E still wonders wether they are good or not. AZA should be able to confirm that there are no hazards for the animals and confirm that SeaWorld is able to keep their marine life in good, happy and healthy condition. But either way, do penguins really want to be here rather then their natural home in Antarctica? And orca are quite dangerous. People may get killed because of the animals fustration of being in a tiny little aquarium.... but their habitats in the aquarium and nice... Small though... They get good food.... But are they happy and comfortable? Think about it. If you would like to learn more or take part in the debates against this kind of think, write an email on the contact us page.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT A puppy mill is?

Well if you don't you can find out now. A puppy mill is a commercial dog breeding facility that cares more for money that the welfare of the dogs they keep as breeding slaves. The dogs usually live in rusty metal cages and don't get much exercise. Most of the time there is no vet so the dogs do not get vet checks. In a puppy mill, the females are forced to continuously breed new puppies for the mill to sell to pet stores. This problem then make some pet stores a danger. If a store is buying their dogs from a puppy mill, that would mean that they are paying for the mill to breed more dogs. You might think, oh, if I buy this dog from this puppy mill, I am saving it' s life! But no, that would mean you paying for another litter of puppies to be born. You saved one live, but you created disaster for another 5. Doesn't this sound awful?  To learn more, email us on the contact us page.

FUR Farms

Fur farms are a terrible form of animal abuse. At a fur farm the animals are caught or bred just to be skinned to make clothing. That is right. CLOTHES. Humans destroy lives to make a bear pelt rug or dear skin dress. Before they are killed and skinned, the animals live in tiny little cages. They don't even spend the short amount of time they are alive in their natural habitat as a wild free animal. It is dumb and abusive to kill for clothing. As humans we are at the top of the food chain and should not be using our so called superiority in a bad way, but in a good way. Just because we have an advantage doesn't mean we have to use it. YULin

Yulin is a festival in southern china where dogs are taken away from their homes then boiled or skinned alive. It is a dog meat festival. The people who run it beleive that tortured meat tastes better.  Most of the dogs in yulin are house pets. On June 21, 2015, 10,000 dogs were killed! Imagine your dog taken away from you to boiled alive. Just like that! How can humans be so cruel. We should be helping those animals, not killing them off! The petition against yulin still continues. We just may stop yuliln yet, but we still need more help! To learn more email us on the contact us page.
